Radical, Different, Extraordinary....still exists.

OH MY WORD! God has presented to me something HUGE. Oh top of going to Haiti in June, I have also been given an opportunity to go to Uganda with Unchanging Truth Ministry International. Being all caught up in the excitement I said "YES," and then someone really close to me made me think about it more, research it more and basically just use my brain. Well, I did that....God has reassured me that this is what His plans for me are. I am nervous, scared, speechless, overwhelmed-yet at peace. I am stressing out about the details, but over all I am ecstatic to see what God has in store for me.
I am reading "Kisses from Katie" by Katie Davies a girl who moved to Uganda when she was 18 and has been living there, she started an orphanage there, and now has 14 children that she has adopted. (i began reading this book a few months ago) I've always admired her! She has relied on God for everything, and when she didn't God opened her eyes! She has a huge heart for the orphans and widows, and I just in awe of all that the Lord has accomplished through her. (If you have a chance CHECK HER OUT!) Well, on this trip to Uganda, I get to meet her. I get to serve kids, I get to be a part of VBS, I get to meet people who have the same goal as me, who share the same passion as me. Our team will be a part of a women's conference and the men will be hosting a men's conference, and then there is VBS. I am beyond thrilled because God is showing me where my heart is at. (not saying that Uganda is where my heart is, but with the orphans, the beloved children of God)

I am definitely not as prepared as I need to be, even not so prepared for Haiti, God is teaching me through all of this that it is not an easy task to serve Him, it is not an easy task to be somewhere you've never been before. I am experiencing many emotions-that's why I run to the Lord. I CAN'T do it on my own. I am in desperate need of Him! To somewhat spiritually prepare myself, i just have been reading Scripture, reading Katie's book, researching the ministry-seems like I am doing all i can, but i know there is always more! At times I feel like this is an impossible task and I can't do it all..but GOD spoke to me through Katie's book saying that "with Him everything is possible"-Matthew 19:26, that "I can do ALL things through Christ who gives me strength"-Philippians 4:13, I was called to "learn to do right! Seek justice, encourage the oppressed. Defend the cause of the fatherless, plead the case of the widow"-Isaiah 1:17. And God said to me " So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you;"-Isaiah 41:10. I am encouraged by this. As I step out to serve Him with Haiti being my training, and Uganda being a stepping stone for what will come next, I NEED YOUR PRAYERS! I NEED YOUR COUNSEL! My spirit is willing, my heart is leaping for joy, but my mind is stressing!

I serve a God who has done amazing, radical, different, extraordinary things through Moses, Noah, Joshua, Peter, Paul, ESTHER, RUTH, David, Jonah, MARY-I mean the list goes on and on....Katie, in her book said that she believed that God does CRAZY things through us all the time, through those whom love Him and desire to serve Him! People might think you're crazy, and I don't blame them! But my GOD is AN AWESOME GOD! All powerful and Mighty to do extraordinary things through ordinary people like me.

Haiti is already an experience in its self and as God prepares my heart for this, He will be preparing my heart for Uganda as well! GUYS IT'S CRAZY!

Here's Katie's Video: check it out!

I'm not proverbs thirty one

Have you ever read Proverbs 31?

It describes a woman who is intimidating to me, yet I aspire to be. If you ever have time, read the chapter, if not, I'll break it down for you. In this chapter King Lemuel meaning "devoted to God" wrote a passage that was almost a perfect description of his mother, some say he was inspired by her wisdom. His mother, Bathsheba made her wisdom very evident when she was basically telling her son "not to fall into the trap of immorality, chasing after women will sap a king's strength. (Proverbs 31:3) I can only draw my own assumptions that Lemuel was inspired by that saying and wrote up a whole chapter based on what a woman of virtue should look like. I won't quote the chapter in this blog, although I must have read it three or four times tonight, and had it basically memorized at some point in high school, however I'll attempt to simplify with my such minuscule concoction of words.

So, what is a Proverbs 31 woman?
She is tr…

It's real

Depression- the word is either used too much or not enough.

Upon hearing that someone may be depressed, some just look the other way as if it's not real, as if it's a trend or not as bad as the guy next door. Some may treat it with medication, therapy, and may even suggest medidation.

I heard a statistic from 2013, that 437 children die from cancer, that is one too many, and 4,600 individuals ages 10-24 will take their own lives. I am one hundred percent positive the numbers have increased since, sadly. So. Are we judging too quickly when some one may be depressed? Are we shrugging it off as if it's not a thing. Let me tell you something...

Unless you have mentally experienced the battles a depressed person fights- you have no say. Unless you have felt your own heart beat fasten it's pace because your lungs are trying to grasp for air due to heavy tear flow that became silent- you can not point fingers. Unless you felt the utter darkness that surrounds the mind and the …

what is seen is temporary

the phrase I have tattooed on my forearm states "this too shall pass..."

lately I'm realizing that the phrase holds multiple meanings. this. what is "this" is it eluding to? here's my faulty conclusion...

this. any state of emotion, life situations, adversities, joys, sadness, pains, tragedies...this will pass. so that leads to this- whatever joys we experience, they will soon pass, what ever pains we experience, they will also pass, the most painful "this too shall pass" includes the connections we make, the relationships we spend our time building, the people...they pass. They pass right out of our lives. You can look at someone and physically see them, all the while realizing the person they were before has "passed", the essence of their being was taken along with their "passing."

"this too shall pass."

As contradicting as it is, the permanent tattoo on my forearm indicates how temporary things are in this life.
